In March, 2020, all 41 Broadway theaters in New York City closed for 18 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the city’s economy lost ~$15B and 90,000 people were out of work. In September 2021, when the theaters reopened, something unprecedented happened. The shows, theater owners and unions all banded together to welcome audiences back. The Broadway League sought to launch a very special ad campaign. For that, they looked to Emodo to go big and do it right.
This short video tells the story and shares the experience. You’ve got to see it!
With help from our partners Aircards and 8th Wall we developed the “Broadway Show Globe”, an immersive advertising experience designed to reignite the excitement of live theater and drive ticket sales during December’s (2021) peak season. The Show Globe experience “transported” the campaign’s audience to a snowy 360-degree Times Square via mobile screens, enabled engaging exploration of the different shows and extended holiday greetings from Broadway celebrities.
Our team worked with the client to curate very specific, strategic audience segments, develop the immersive ad experience, execute and optimize the campaign. And, in the end, the engagement metrics were off the charts. It’s a really good example of what we do. Emodo delivers more meaningful, more effective connections through better media, better audiences and creative you can feel.
